Manufacturer appoints president – Grand Rapids Business Journal

Grand Haven-based LightCorp appointed Marc Langeland to the role, according to the company this week.

He replaced outgoing President Kyle Verplank, effective Jan. 1.

Langeland has been with LightCorp for 29 years, serving most recently as VP of sales and marketing, following the 10 years he spent as VP of operations and supply chain.

“Marc has worked effectively in multiple roles throughout his 29 years at LightCorp, giving him a deep knowledge of our business and marketplace,” Verplank said. “He and his leadership team are well-positioned to carry forward and accelerate the momentum we created over the last several years.”

VerPlank is transitioning into the role of executive chair at VEI, the Grand Haven-based holding company that controls LightCorp, Shape Corp, Pliant Plastics and BioSolutions.

Among Langeland’s first initiatives as president of LightCorp will be to further the company’s re-focused strategy to emphasize and grow its contract manufacturing business.

“The heart of our value proposition is centered on our ability to offer customized, scalable, full-service contract manufacturing that is competitively priced, quick-turn and produced in North America,” Langeland said. “We believe these capabilities, coupled with additional products, channels and markets, (represent) a very compelling strategy.”

LightCorp’s leadership team is now comprised of Langeland and Brian Joslin, director of operations, and Samantha Follett, director of business development.

Founded in 1986, LightCorp makes lighting products for several nationally recognized contract furniture OEMs.
